LLB (Bachelor of Laws) - Government Law College - Mumbai, India - 1998
B COM (Bachelor of Commerce) - Sydneham College of Commerce & Economics - Mumbai, India - 1995
Experience
Ashwini Jhaveri was born and raised in Mumbai, India. Born an avid reader and scholastic by genetics, she spent her childhood amidst mystery books like Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Secret Seven and Famous Five. As a teenager, the fascination for mysteries grew even larger as she entered the world of John Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark, Richard North Patterson, Steve Martini, it was all about murders, trials, defendants, attorneys, judges and juries and so on. So after acquiring her Bachelor Degree in Commerce (B Com), it was more than obvious what her next step would be; to pursue a career in Law. It also was a natural step to take as her father and her sister had earned their degrees in Law as well. She worked diligently and earned her Bachelorette in Law (LLB) in 3 years. Thereafter, still eager to pursue further in this field, she earned her Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) specializing in Criminal Law and Human Rights, Jurisprudence and Law.
Her next ideal step would be to join a top notch law firm in Mumbai (which she had been offered to join) and go on to further her career in the field of law. But having weighed her opportunities, she decided to join her family business and worked as a Director in her family’s companies. Over the 10 years of working directly side by side with the CEO (her father) she gained immense experience about the financial world, including the stock market, business management, accounting, taxation and everything else that comes with the territory of managing successful businesses. The main family business being Commercial Development; she gained abundant experience in the field of construction, especially multi-storied buildings. Her “legal” background proved very necessary as she was one of the main negotiators for the company dealing with diverse contracts, bank agreements, property agreements, and negotiating with multi-international corporations regarding tenancy and overall terms and conditions.
Now married and settled in California, she has joined the astute law firm of “Law offices of Carlos R. Barrios And Associates, PLC,” and is expanding the firm’s already thriving Immigration Department.
Ashwini is a very straightforward, honest, a complete extrovert, hardworking individual from a foreign country; who struggled for two years to find her niche in this vast land. It is her aspiration to make a difference in the lives of the people she touches through her field (as she know firsthand what they must be going through – having gone through it herself) and she strives towards making her mark one day and achieve success not by society’s definition of success (typically wealth) but more by goodwill.
